Brilliant Annual Balance: Goodgame Studios is employing more than 100 people

The Hamburg-Based Producer of Online Games Grew Rapidly in 2010
A little more than one and a half years went by since Goodgame Studios was founded by Dr. Christian Wawrzinek (COO) and his brother Dr. Kai Wawrzinek (CEO) in June 2009. The games developer began last year with the successful debut game Goodgame Poker, half a million registered players, 20 employees and big visions for the future. Now the young company can draw a very successful balance.
Over the course of the last twelve months eight new online games have been published that can be played worldwide and in more than 20 languages. The number of registrations multiplied fiftyfold to 25 millions. The Goodgame Studios’ repertoire consists of role-playing and card games, simulations and management games in a casual style with cheerful graphics providing long-lasting entertainment for all ages. To satisfy the users’ needs new content for all games is provided on a regular basis. Further diversion will be available with the release of more games in the coming months.
The games’ global success also led to local growth: Just last August the company moved into a new, 1000 square meter office in Hamburg’s Westend Village. There Goodgame Studios welcomed its 100th employee. In addition, more than 100 external employees are also working to support costumers, on translations, game testing or creating new graphics. The paint has just dried on the walls of the new home but another extension to a second floor is already planned for the immediate future so that prospective employees can be accommodated.
Even in these times of fast growth Goodgame Studios keeps up its high standards towards the employees by advancing the personnel, creating a friendly work environment and providing modern workplaces. The three big team offices are vibrating with creative thinking, readiness to help others and a general good mood.
Of special importance to the two directors Christian und Kai Wawrzinek is a flat hierarchy within the company. Open communication is used to promote the employees’ initiative. “The success of Goodgame Studios is deeply rooted in our great team that brings our firm forward with intelligence, the capacity for teamwork and wholehearted dedication,” says Christian Wawrzinek. In return the employees are provided with several amenities: A swimming pool and an exercise room can be used at all times. Furthermore there are a “Gaming Room”, cozy reading corners, and a spacious lounge. Fresh fruit, drinks and cereals are free for all employees. Monthly events after work further improve the good team spirit.
New ambitioned projects are planned for this year. For example the current portfolio will be expanded by a new genre with strategy games, all existing browser games will be extended and customer support enlarged significantly. In order to realize all upcoming ideas the company wants to hire 100 to 200 new employees. Personnel are always wanted in all 15 departments of Goodgame Studios. Career changers are also always welcome; there is no lack of exciting tasks. As of now, more than 30 job vacancies are offered.
