Hamburg,
Eight Games, 22 Languages, 28 Million Registrations and 48,822,963 Tomatoes
More than 70 million players worldwide use the free browser games of Hamburg’s developer Goodgame Studios every month. The browser games can be played in 22 languages via the portal rcw-test.goodgamestudios.com and in more than 200 countries fans are thrilled by Goodgame Studios’ flash games. In some countries there are millions of fans, in some maybe just one. Like on New Caledonia the island belonging to France, located in the Pacific Ocean, about 1,200 km east of Australia.
With so many fans incredible numbers emerge. Since the launch of GOODGAME FARMER in April 2010, precisely 56,545,606 animals were bought. In GOODGAME CAFÉ on the other hand, 48,822,963 tomatoes were used for 38,738,555 salads, among others. And in GOODGAME MAFIA 32,423,561 tasks have already been taken care of for the godfather. The users are also very generous: 2,721,219 pieces of clothing were given away in GOODGAME FASHION and 273,473,862 chips donated in GOODGAME POKER.
In order for the casual social games to be played all around the globe, staff members from over 20 nations are constantly working on improving the games. Part of it is the translation into numerous languages. “True to our motto ‘Playfully connecting the world – finding friends worldwide playing’ we want to reach as many people as possible. To reach that goal localizations of the games are inevitable,” says COO Dr. Christian Wawrzinek. Accordingly, GOODGAME FARMER alone, the game with the most users, can be played in 20 different languages: German, English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Polish, Russian, Czech, Hungarian, Dutch, Danish, Swedish, Finnish, Turkish, Greek, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Taiwanese. And with Norwegian and Arabic further translations are already in the works.
