Goodgame Studios Founders Named “Entrepreneur of the Year 2011”

Ernst & Young Honors Dr. Christian Wawrzinek and Dr. Kai Wawrzinek with Prestigious Business Award
During a commemorative event on September 23 the founders and Managing Directors of Goodgame Studios – Dr. Christian Wawrzinek and Dr. Kai Wawrzinek – were awarded the prize “Entrepreneur of the Year 2011” in the start-up category. The company, which was founded in June 2009, focuses on the development of family-friendly online games. “We are deeply honored by this recognition and proud to be amongst the ranks of such outstanding entrepreneurs,” says Dr. Christian Wawrzinek. “First and foremost we owe and dedicate this award to our 120 employees, whose full commitment, intelligence and creativity are behind the success of Goodgame Studios.” Dr. Kai Wawrzinek agrees and adds: “In addition, this title is an affirmation on the way to our goal of becoming the largest provider of online games in Europe.”
The business prize “Entrepreneur of the Year” is awarded for outstanding business achievements. Besides growth rates and high innovative strength social commitment, employee development and the companies’ sustainability are taken into account. A total of 300 nominated enterprises in five categories fought for the coveted award, which worldwide operating consulting firm Ernst & Young – in cooperation with the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Manager Magazin and DZ BANK – awarded for the 15th time already. The prize is granted by Ernst & Young in 50 countries and is regarded as one of the most renowned business awards. All laureates “are pioneers in their industries who purposefully realize their visions while not forgetting their responsibilities as entrepreneurs,” says Wolfgang Glauber of Ernst & Young, project director of the competition. Prominent names among the previous winners are Prof. Claus Hipp, Dirk Rossmann, Erich Sixt and Prof. Götz W. Werner (dm-drogerie markt).
Goodgame Studios convinced the independent high-caliber jury as the “shooting star among the developers of social games” “with a worldwide unique technology” that “allows users to play in real time even with a poor internet connection”, and the ethical principle to produce family-friendly casual games only. “Playfully connecting the world – finding friends worldwide playing,” is, based on the original Olympic idea, the company’s motto behind this principle.
