Goodgame Studios, leading developer and publisher of gaming software, is celebrating the two year anniversary of its successful mobile game, Empire: Four Kingdoms. Since its launch two years ago, over 40 million players have registered for the free-to-play strategy game, and almost 400,000 users sign up every week. The US is the biggest market with 6.5 million registrations since the game’s launch.The game continues to rank among the top 10 in app stores around the world. According to the leading market research firm App Annie, E4K is one of the highest-grossing apps from a German developer worldwide.

Empire: Four Kingdoms is based on the award-winning browser game Goodgame Empire. Players can produce resources, form alliances, and prove themselves worthy against their opponents. The game is set in an enchanting medieval world. It was also recently crowned the “Best European Mobile Game” at the 2014 European Games Award and has even proven successful in Japan, where it shot straight to 1st place in the download charts after its release.

The winning streak of the German game company Goodgame Studios continues. In conjunction with NTT Group the developer and publisher of online and mobile games is set to expand its business in the Asia Pacific region.

Supported by the infrastructure provided by NTT Communications (NTT Com) the developer and publisher of social games has made the strategy game ‘Empire: Four Kingdoms’ available to Japanese players last autumn. In January 2014, NTT Com‘s sister company NTT DOCOMO enabled a further 62 million Japanese users to access ‚Empire: Four Kingdoms‘ via its mobile gaming portal game™, making it the first western game next to 75 games from Japanese developers. ‘Empire: Four Kingdoms’ is the mobile version of the prize-winning browser game ‘Goodgame Empire’.

Though accompanied by little fanfare at the time, the first app from the Hamburg developer can now be regularly found among the top ten highest grossing games in both the iTunes and Google Play Stores.
