Goodgame Empire nominated for the German Game Developer Award in two categories
Hamburg,
The latest Goodgame Studios title has been nominated in the “Best Browser Game” and “Best Casual Game” categories by the Academy of the German Game Developer Award.
Half a dozen members of the Goodgame Empire development team (http://empire.goodgamestudios.com/) will be sitting excitedly among the 1,000 other invited guests this Wednesday when the renowned German Game Developer Award is presented for the eighth time. The nomination for the award, which will be presented at a ceremony in front of the monumental backdrop of the Altes Kesselhaus in Düsseldorf, is the team’s well-earned recognition for many months of hard work on the design, graphics, and programming of the strategy game. Since the game launched in August of this year, the team has also updated it every week to add new functions, buildings, and equipment. The nearly three million registered players that the game has garnered within less than four months and the dedicated fans from around the world are almost a greater reward than any award nomination.
As a hybrid of a management simulation and a strategy game in which players must fight and win battles against other real players, Goodgame Empire has impressed both industry experts and players. All players start as young knights in possession of a small castle surrounded by a few cottages. With carefully planned campaigns, tactical aptitude, and the development of a functioning economic cycle, players can become the ruler of a powerful empire. They also have access to a broad range of different military units for tactically complex battles, as well as a comprehensive trading system and various commercial buildings in many different upgrade levels. Step by step, players can build their humble little castle into an awe-inspiring bastion. To expand their empires on the enormous, dynamic world map, they can enter into sword brotherhoods and alliances with other rulers in order to continuously extend their spheres of influence.
The German Game Developer Award is one of the oldest and most significant honors in the German gaming world. It is presented by its own academy and jury. Winners in certain categories are also selected by the public. The most important criteria for the award are new game concepts, technological innovation, and gameplay qualities. However, the games receiving the awards aren’t the only focus of the ceremony; the game developers themselves are the ones really in the spotlight. So the game designers, developers, producers, and project managers from Goodgame Empire attending the award ceremony – who usually work behind the scenes – are hoping to hear their names announced among the winners, and are looking forward to the chance to bask in the limelight for a few brief moments.
